On the Sexual Organs of Plants

‘Pornography’, snorts the puritan,
Lips pursed prim and brow censorious.
‘Pornography’, intoned again
In tones no gentler.

Delight then sweeps across his face
As he goes back to his toil.
Who can deny his pleasure
As he weeds and sows and waters?

And who can blame the worthy man?
For nowhere in that part of town
Exhibits such a fine display
Of pistils or of stamens.
